Promoting the interests of Nordic engineers through
cross-organisational cooperation

The Association of Nordic Engineers, ANE is a cooperation organisation between trade unions representing more than 500.000 engineers in the Nordic region. ANE is a platform for affiliates to share know-how and generate new ideas. The created knowledge is used for policy influencing in the region, at the EU level, and globally.
The primary objective is to promote the attractiveness of STEM education, strengthen the role of engineers in the transition to a sustainable society, and advocate for good working conditions for STEM professionals in the labour market.

Towards a Circular Economy

This report provides an overview of the future need for STEM and engineering skills in the transition to and during a circular economy. The benefits of transitioning to a circular economy outweigh the disadvantages. However, more efforts are needed to move from conceptualisation to implementation.

The Nordic countries are among the frontrunners in clean energy systems and innovative approaches to society’s digital and green transition. There is a strong focus on the twin transition in the Nordics, which is highly dependent on innovation and skills in private businesses and research institutions. ANE strives to share Nordic engineers’ know-how both in the EU and globally to address climate change challenges.

Future Skills & Work-life

We believe that everyone should have the right to continuing professional development to maintain and acquire skills to remain employable and manage transitions in the future labour market. This is particularly important because of the increasing deficit of ICT and engineering professionals in the Nordic region. Our objective is to promote lifelong learning opportunities in the Nordics as an investment in nurturing STEM professionals’ potential.

Responsible Tech

Across the engineering profession, there is an increasing recognition that ethical considerations need to be an explicit and integral part of engineering in a data-driven world. We intend to create fora for engineers to take a more active role in generating the debate on responsible AI.
